
Individualized Learning
When to Enroll
You may initiate the enrollment procedures for an Individualized Learning (IL) course at any time. You do not have to wait for the registration period for classroom courses or for online courses.
Start Date and End Date for IL Courses
You may begin work on your IL course as soon as you complete the enrollment procedures and have the course materials. The official start date will be the next calendar date that ends with a 2, in other words, the 2nd, the 12th, or the 22nd of the month. The end date for your IL course will be 15 weeks after your official start date.
Summary of Enrollment Procedures
- Student selects a course from the current IL schedule.
- Student completes and submits the "Individualized Learning Registration Request." This form can be submitted either on-line, by fax or regular mail. (Printable Version)
- The DE Office notifies student and local UMUC Field Representative when the "Individualized Learning Registration Request" is approved.
- Course materials are sent to student’s registration center as submitted on the registration request form.
- UMUC Field Representative contacts the student when course materials are received.
- Student completes registration forms and pays tuition.
