Directions and Parking

The UMUC office is located in the Volkel Education Center in Building 404, room 17.

To find our location, please take the A50 until the N264. Exit onto the N264 and at the end of the exit, turn right. Follow the signs for “Vliebasis Volkel” (all signs will have a small plane icon to indicat airbase). At the traffic circles, exit in the direction of Vliebasis Volkel”. The Volkel base is located on the right side of "Zeelandijk" street. After you pass through the entrance and the inspection area on base, drive straight on and then take the second left turn. The Volkel Education Center is located in Bldg 404, the second building on the right side. The UMUC office is located to the left of the main entrance, the 3rd door on the right.

It is recommended that you call in advance to obtain a gate pass to get on base. In addition, you may be required to show your passport and leave it with the gate guard to be allowed on base.

Computer Labs

UMUC does not provide a computer lab at this location. However, a computer lab is available through the Education Center and it provides four computers with access to the Internet. Please check with the education center staff for lab availability.

Testing Services

Placement tests for English and math courses and proctored exams for distance education courses are available through your local UMUC office. Please contact the field representative to schedule an appointment.

Additional Site Information

The Volkel Education Center is located in a small suburban Dutch Community on the Royal Air Base of the Netherlands at Volkel. The base unit has a small Shoppette, library, and cash cage that are open part time with varying hours throughout the week.

The nearest Dutch community is Uden, and it is about 4 miles away. There you will find a McDonalds and other restaurants, lodging, and many shops.

Students and faculty wishing to visit should call in advance for a gate pass, as no one without a pass or Dutch military ID card is permitted on base.
