Directions and Parking

The US Army Garrison Schinnen , home to AFNORTH Education Center, is located in the Netherlands directly off the A4/A76 motorway, about 20 minutes from the German Border.

To find our location, please follow the A4/A76 Expressway to the Netherlands (direction Heerlen.) After crossing the border, take the Schinnen/Oirsbeek Exit 4. After exiting, take a right onto Breinder, cross the railroad tracks and then an take immediate left onto Borgerweg. Continue straight ahead on Borgerweg and over a small traffic island until you reach the front gate of the USAG Schinnen. The Education Center is located at the epicenter of the small post, on the second story above Community Bank. Parking is available in front of the building.

Computer Labs

The UMUC sponsored computer lab has 3 computers available for student use, as well as a laser printer. Each computer provides access to the Internet, as well as word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software. The computer lab is accessible Mon-Fri. from 0900-1630.

Testing Services

Placement tests for English and math courses and proctored exams for distance education courses are available through your local UMUC office. Please contact the field representative to schedule an appointment.

Emphasizing a personal approach to education, the UMUC academic advising staff is always available to assist you in developing a personalized plan of study. Additional Site Information

The AFNORTH Education Center is conveniently located on post at USAG Schinnen. Dining facilities include a Burger King, Anthonys Pizza, and AAFES Shoppette, and are in close proximity to the education center. The AFNORTH Education Center is also within easy traveling distance of the Geilenkirchen Airbase in Germany. This proximity allows students from both communities to attend courses across the border and have greater access to the courses and degree programs they need.
