Directions and Parking

The UMUC office is located in the Croughton Education Center in Building 204.

To find our location, please take Motorway M40 from London, exit at junction 10, and merge onto A43 going northwest. About three miles down the road on A43 a sign for RAF Croughton will appear. At the sign, turn left onto B4031. The base is about one mile down the B4031, and it is located on the left side of the road.

As you enter the main gate, continue going straight on the priority road. Bldg 204 is located on the right side. There is parking available in front of the building.

A permit is needed to drive on base and a pass is required for your car. Check with the field representative about getting a temporary pass for you car.

Computer Labs

UMUC does not provide a computer lab at this location. However, a computer lab is available through the Air Force computer learning center with 12 computers. Six computers are for AF active duty access and six for all others including UMUC students.

Testing Services

Placement tests for English and math courses and proctored exams for distance education courses are available through your local UMUC office. Please contact the field representative to schedule an appointment.

Additional Site Information

UMUC at Croughton serves the communities of RAF Croughton and RAF Fairford. RAF Croughton is located in a rural area about 60 miles northwest of London and 20 miles north of Oxford on the edge of the beautiful Cotswolds. The local area includes numerous pubs, many small villages, historical sites, and wonderful scenery. RAF Fairford is about 47 miles south west of Croughton and is situated among the rural Cotswold villages. Cirencester and Swindon are the closest towns.

The Croughton base community is small, however provides a base exchange and commissary for military/government ID holders. There is a food court and bowling alley that serve meals during the day and the Consolidated Club has a limited ala carte dinner menu and bar meals available most evenings. There is limited accommodation on a space available basis at both RAF Croughton and RAF Fairford, however a hotel, bed and breakfast, and pub accommodations are available in the nearby civilian communities.
